Q: What are your tour times?
A: We don't have set tour times. Our tour times vary depending on how busy we are. Generally, we have a tour departing every 30 minutes. When you make your reservation, you will receive a confirmation email asking you to check in 30 minutes prior to the time you submit.
Q: How do I know if the time I want is available?
A: You won't. Submit the time you would like and we will book it for you. If there is a conflict, we will email you before finalizing the transaction and let you choose the resolution that suits you best.
Q: Where do the carriage tours go?
A: Our tours are conducted in the residential portion of Charleston's Historic District. The specific route is randomly assigned by the City of Charleston at the first stop after the carriage has departed. This ensures a balance and spreads touring vehicles evenly in the Historic District. We do not have any control over which route a specific carriage receives.
Q: I have a group of 5 adults and 2 small children. Will we fit in the private carriage?
A: The private tours are conducted in a Vis-a-Vis carriage. Vis-a-Vis carriages have 2 seats that are each 43 inches wide. You'll have to make the determination. There is no way for us to know the sizes of the adults or how small the children are or whether you intend to have the children sit on laps, etc.. Sometimes groups of 6 adults fit comfortably and sometimes groups of 4 do not.
Q: What do the terms "private" and "group" mean with respect to your tours?
A: A private tour means you have the entire carriage, typically our Vis-a-Vis, all to yourselves. A group tour means that you are part of a larger touring group on a 16 passenger carriage. Early Bird and APO tours are both group tours.
Q: I have four adults, but only want 1 Race to Savings card. Will the other 2 adults receive the $3 discount?
A: Yes. When a customer selects the Race to Savings option, only 2 adults will pay full rate and 1 card will be assigned to your group, regardless of the number of adults you submit. If you need more than 1 card, please specify your needs in the comments section on the form and you will be charged accordingly.
Q: Can I book an entire large carriage or multiple large carriages?
A: Certainly. The rates depend on the day and the time of day. Please send us an email before making a reservation.
Q: Will I get a confirmation number? How do I get my tickets?
A: You will receive a confirmation email from us stating your reservation. It is sent to serve as your receipt. It is not necessary for you to print it out and bring it with you, but we suggest that you do if you can. All you need to check in with us is your last name.
Q: What happens if it rains when my tour is scheduled?
A: Our carriages do have roofs, but they are primarily designed for sun protection and will only keep you dry in a light to moderate rain. We still work in the rain (our horses actually enjoy it, esp. in the summer!) but if you don't want to go you have the choice of whether to reschedule or cancel with a full refund. |
